I was hoping to get some info recommendations for headphones. The left side of mine is on the blink and I guess I have to replace them. Any suggestions on a good solid brand and were I can get them. I would also like to have them put on by a pro since I have no talent in this area. I'm in S. FL and I have about three weeks before I leave for 90 days so timing is a factor. Thanks

Depends on how much you want to spend. Is your Excal under warranty, if so you have to send it to Minelab or you will void your warranty. If it is not under warranty there are several choices, Grey Ghost Under Water, Garrett Headphones or the new Team Orcasound headphones like I just put on one of my Excals........

Here is a link with pictures on how I did mine and it isn't that hard, although you will probably feel nervous when you cut the cable to your old headphones.... :laughing9:

Thanks for the info. First I am a newbie so I would really like to thank everyone and I enjoy searching the sites to get info. I have contacted Minelab by phone and by email and have never heard back from them so I'm not sure about customer support (but what I've read here has not been very positive)

I liked the idea on the Orcas but the warranty on them is void if you do not do everything according to their standard. I saw them on sale on eBay for 170.00 - does that sound right. Thanks for the detailed info on putting them on especially for someone who would fit the nervous guy cutting the cable.

It sounds like an internal IT department issue. The email failure states "The recipient's e-mail address was not found in the recipient's e-mail system". This is telling you Minelabs Email account is still valid, but the internal address it points to for the repair department has an issue. It could easily and most likely is a problem caused by their IT department working on their email accounts. They may have been working on their email accounts and created a new one rather then reconnecting the old one and the internal email system may still be pointed at the old address.

I sent 2 emails to Minelab repair department, the one Friday night went through with no failure, the one today bounced. I sent an email to a marketing executive and it went through also......

I would be a little frustrated just as you are, but personally I would not be worried about losing my detector at all....Minelab isn't going anywhere, your detector is safe, you have a delivery confirmation.
