Any description of the material would help...texture, weight, etc.

I am making an assumption its rock? If so, perhaps used as a skinner/scrapper? :dontknow:

Great Find,
I'm going with kudzu74. The Smithsonian did an experiment some years ago. They took a large elephant that died at the Nat Zoo to their research station outside Front Royal, Va. A team of Paleontologists butchered the animal using exclusively flint tools. If I remember correctly the skinning tools looked a lot like this. The study was to try and match tools with cut marks found on Mammoth bones. It was published in National Geographic and probably Smithsonian as well, but I can't say what year or month.

Exactly ? Ok, it’s a piece of flint thats been worked by human hands thru a process called knapping.

It's definitely a tool with a cutting edge. Knife/scrapper would be a good use for this tool if I'm guessing. A beautiful find. Nice material too. Congratulations on such a beautiful find.
