Can anyone Give me Details on this Group ?

It is obvious to me they are like the VFW & Legion
in ways, But, That is as much as I know.

An Internet search brought up Nothing from the U.S.
let alone PA.

Being too hot to hunt, I decided to follow
A long forgotten Lead from about 6 Years ago.
I went to Pine Grove, Parked my car & walked into some woods.

After a short Distance, I saw a Building.
When I got there. I saw it was a Large Stage
with the floor Rotting through.
There is also a Large Consession stand,
With approximately 4 Old Stoves still in it.
And Out houses nearby.
& Signs of Fire Places.
I forgot My Camera, But am thinking about going back
with my Detector Tomorrow, & will take pics.

I just did a Property Search, and in 1950
it was owned by the EX-SERVICE MENS CLUB

I can't find any history on this Organization,
as to when they were formed or their Purpose.

Anyone ? Anyone ?

Jeff,

"It is obvious to me they are like the VFW & Legion."

Perhaps not :-\

Could be a "service" club from any type of organization.
Church, school, the folks who do the work. Some sort
of charitable group.

Or it could be an organization of ex hookers.
"Service men" ;) ;D

Just a thought.

have a good un.......

Thanks ! What may have confussed me was the

Words SERVICE & MENS
they are seperate on the tax site.

Put them together you got SERVICEMEN'S

Looks like I may need to start Asking Locally.

I sort of like the Polish bit.

Would not rule out a veterans club, but
made up of a certain nationality and who
fought for that country.

Guys that fought in the Polish Army or the
Greek Army and the like.

Just another thought.

This would most likely be WWII or prior.
Old guys that died out and the club went down
hill. (What nationality lives in that area?)

Think a lot of the European countries have what
they call service clubs made up of the Veterans.

jeff...
Give the town clerk's office a call, and ask to speak to the tax assessor. Just say you are looking to find out the current owner of a piece of property. It helps if you have the address and plat/lot. Ask when the person took title, and if it is a group, ask for a contact person, or mailing address. (you can then do a reverse phone/address lookup. Remember though, you can be the listed taxpayer on a property, yet not be the true, or owner in fact. A good example of that would be the president of a company paying the tax bill in his name, or an elderly couple having the tax bill in their kid's names.

My suggestion would be to call the town clerk's office, or better yet, stop by if it's close enough, and speak to the clerk. Ask them to see the "Chain of Title" cards. Every time a property is transferred, the new owner's name goes on the card, along with a date, and the book and page of the deed's "recording". Go pull the book in the archives, or vault and get the information from the deed. Then check that person's name against the tax rolls.

good luck

Steve I already have all the Tax info.

The land is now owned by a Local manufacturer of Wools.

And includes a Ball Field.
"Public Land"

It is just that I thought I knew the area very well
& finding this in the middle of the woods
with even the access road Grown shut,
has me intrested.

Still nobody around to ask What or When it was.
But I did get some pics this morning
