BISHOP, Texas (AP) -- A former college professor has hit a fourth Texas Lottery jackpot in the face of astronomical odds.

Joan Ginther won $10 million on scratch-off ticket bought in the rural town of Bishop last month. That brings her lifetime Texas lottery winnings to nearly $21 million since 1993.

The 63-year-old Ginther has won at least $2 million on each of her winning tickets. Texas Lottery Commission spokesman Bobby Heith says the agency hasn't seen a repeat winner on this scale.

Not that Ginther didn't know the long odds stacked against her. Before becoming a multimillionaire, Ginther worked in California as a professor -- teaching math.

Although she's a celebrity in Bishop, few know much about her. She now lives in Las Vegas, and friends say she wants her privacy.

That is pretty amazing and against the odds 4 times too :tongue3:
I wonder where she learned to make those winning counterfeit tickets :dontknow:

Funny thing is that most people who win those big lotteries are bankrupt within a few years and spend their winnings like a drunken sailor. :laughing7:

I imagine she calculated the odds on the games, picked the best, and then simply bought enough to make the possibility of winning statistically significant. If we knew how much she spent to win, that would be an interesting figure.

I read this story elsewhere also. I keep wondering why she continues to play and how much does she still spend on the lottery :dontknow: . Oh well, congrats to her. :icon_thumright:

I still think she found a way to counterfeit those tickets and I want "in".
