Everybody is always coming to Fla for a vacation but...

Does anyone know of folks taking a vacation north to do metal detecting in Spring and Summer. If so, is it difficult to find places to put the coil down for a chance to find something older than the inland(a few wheat pennies and an ocassional silver) stuff I usually find here in Fl. Usually,I don't bother going over to the beaches as the locals in those area are picking them clean all the time (St Pete, Clearwater and south) it seems.

Im from Miami, and i have considered going to North FL for a vacation soon. So any ideas would help too. Site seeing ideas along with detecting would be great!!

Last year my wife and i went Daytona and St. Augustine and had a blast.
