That is an unusual find! The handles are pretty much generic utility handles used on anything from trunks to tool boxes.
Wonder what they were to? Hard to know but fun to fantasize!

That may be from an old wooden carpenters tool box or steamer trunk. Although it could be from any type box, like creskol said, I have a tool box with those same handles. My box is 40s-50's era. I have been offered good money for it.

The box may hold some tools.

If it had OD Green paint it could be military, We had an antennae assembly that came in a box just like that. The handles were positioned on the sides to ensure a two-person carry.
