It's Friday and the day before the big Saturday sale at the ARC and time for a quick looksy to inspect the new stock for tomorrow put out. Checking the watches as I always do I almost didn't see this little ladies watch sitting upside down with the back mono'd, so I had to go run down a clerk to get that son of a gun case open NOW! with my visions of possible gold in that case full of crap watches. I finally went to the break room and found a gal shoot'n the bull and said, kindly, would you be so sweet to get the key to the jewelry case, so as I may take a look at something? She said she'll be right on it. I picked it out and checked the back and perimeter of the back not seeing what I hoped for that numeric-alpha description of 14K. that's odd?? Not seeing it, but it being an Omega I knew it would bring more then the $19.99 they had on it even if it were a gold filled case. I'm not going to risk waiting for it being on sale tomorrow, because that's the day the competing treasure hunters line up before the doors open and the odds are it's already been spotted and tagged for tomorrow's grab by those who try and get these things for less. Got out to the truck and popped of the back and there my wish came so. (14K GOLD) it says. These range from 3.3 to almost 4.0 grams of gold stripped to the case. With tax and all it cost me $21.69 This is the 3rd solid gold case ladies wristwatch I've scored out of this ARC location now. One was only $5.99 + tax I recall.

Good eye. Of course there will be some tomorrow who will not share in your enthusiasm. Well done.

Nice job!! That's a great little beauty!! I'm going to need to start paying closer attention to the watches from now on!

Great find and an omega st that

Those are always fun to find! The back usually in my case weighs 2 grams or less and the movement is like 3-4 grams or so, not sure on that. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/garage-sale-finds/495410-solid-ladies-14k-watch-tag-heuer.html check my ladies watch find out! The band was gold as well! Does your watch work? Omegas usually command a premium over melt, not sure how much more for a ladies watch however.
The omega does work. I think it may go more then scrap, but I'm not selling the items of gold and silver like I did before. I the past I've found there is a market for these little ladies watches in China and Japan if it's a solid gold case. You are correct on the back of these as being only around 2 grams, but the bezel is also gold. You need to remove the movement, crystal and band in this case in order to get the full weight of the case assembly "back & bezel" It's pretty easy to do. If you have a watch were the crown stem runs through the case you'll need to pull the crown and stem assembly in order to get the movement out. To do that you use a needle to push a very tiny lock pin by were the crown stem is going into the movement and the crown with the pin will pull right out and you can then dropout the movement. You made a excellent score on that Baume Mercier. If their busted and have a high end name I quit spending the extra on having them fixed and just let the buyer deal with that. I was finding I wasn't really getting all that much more running vs an additional $90. to $120. to get them fixed. My watch repair guy isn't hurting for business and I see him at the post office a lot sending back repairs to customers all over the country now, so he's not giving me any deals like he did 15-20 years ago. He sent his son to a watch repair school and he now works in NY making really good money at it. It's a good trade to learn these days as there has been an insurgence in old mechanical and high end watches all over the world and the business of fixing them is really in demand. I think eBay had a lot to do with that as collectors came in view of so many available watches around the world and many are broken and need fixed bringing a bigger demand for those to fix them.
