Re: ERIN BRONZE RELIC

There was a big Celtic revival starting in the 1930's. Don't think it's any older than that... probably newer.

Agreed. And my hunch is less then 40 years old. It looks like the type of item that would've gone on a leather strap for a personalized keychain. Send it back to Erin. 8)

Re: ERIN BRONZE RELIC

I remember it well, & if PBK was around so would he ;D My thoughts back then were Horse Brass & although its a little strange having the strap bar lower than most examples it seems to be the right size & shape for one. Probably a hand crafted novelty souvenir from Ireland, they are big into horses & as the above folk have suggested I don't think its mega old.

Your question on ERIN can be best read here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erin

This adds weight to it coming from Ireland & being a tourist piece.

In fact here is one sold with many other horse brasses (all modern):
https://cars2.ebay.com.au/27-HORSE-BRASS-S-HOLDERS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ190424332006

Sold in Australia, so adding to the modern tourist theory.

Convinced yet? :)
