Hi all!

I wanted to share the news that Equinox lower rods are now finally “in production,” and at this point will be a permanent “for sale” product offering. This is the “for sale” ad that I’ve been promising for a few weeks now!

That’s the good news. The bad news is, my “pre-order” list grew so rapidly AFTER I had ordered the first batch of parts, that it quickly became apparent that I did NOT order enough parts to meet initial demand. As I am now working through the “wait list” in order, I can confirm that all 20 of the rods in the first “batch” are either already sold and shipped, or else are “spoken for” by folks who had been waiting to see if there would be any rods left when I got to their “place in line.”

I have placed another order for parts, which I expect to arrive in about 2 ½ weeks. So, my next batch of rods will be available within a couple of days thereafter – my estimate being the first week to 10 days of November. I am working hard to sort out the “demand vs. inventory” issue, so that I can get to the place where I know how many rod parts I need to order, and how frequently, so that I’m “caught up,” and achieve the desired situation where I always have rods “in stock.” Until I reach that point, I humbly ask for everyone’s patience and understanding!

With all that out of the way, the introductory sale price on the rods, for forum members, is $58 plus shipping (usually $8 for U.S. Priority/insured), so expect a price of $66 shipped in most cases. I can ship to Canada as well, for about $36, so the price would be $94 shipped, for Canadian residents.

If you are interested in a rod, please contact me, and I’ll include you on the list for the next batch of rods.

Thanks for your interest, and your patience while I get the “supply and demand” issues figured out!

Meanwhile, CTX 3030 rods are also available, for anyone interested or in need.

Steve

Hey Steve, just wondering what the advantage of getting one of these rods would be. Thanks.

Thanks for your interest, and the question. I had a similar question asked, awhile back, in a different thread about my lower rods. I will link the post I made in that thread that was a reply to that question, below. I gave a detailed response, in that post, and I think this is the "long answer" to your question, as well...

http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/e...ect-prototype-rod-successful.html#post5944111

The shorter answer is, my rod is a bit lighter in weight (and more aesthetically appealing) than the stock lower rod, and I can customize it to any length you desire. My "standard" rod is a bit longer than Minelab's, which leaves a bit more of the lower rod "inserted into" the middle rod when adjusting my rod to your desired "hunting length" (which helps a bit with stability). But again, I can build it to any length you desire.

THE MAIN ADVANTAGE, however, is simply to have a spare rod -- either to keep attached to one of your extra coils, or to have on hand as a spare, "just in case." Most folks like to keep them attached to extra coils for easy changing of coils "in the field;" that's so far what the intent of most of the folks who have purchased rods from me has been.

As a final note -- and again, there are more details in the post I linked above -- these lower rods will be fully compatible with, and are in fact kind of a "first step" towards, the complete carbon-fiber shaft system that is in final design stages now, and that I will offer for sale as soon as possible. That complete shaft system -- which will include this lower rod -- will resolve many of the minor complaints folks have had with the stock "shaft system" (namely ergonomics/nose heaviness, and "shaft wobble").

For more details, see the post I linked above, or feel free to ask further questions (or send PM, whatever you wish).

THANKS for your interest!

I just received the Lower Rod for my Equinox and I just wanted to say what a beautiful job. It’s absolutely perfect! Quality is very high end.
The packaging for shipping was excellent and it arrived safe and sound.
Awesome craftsmanship and engineering Steve, thank you.
Best regards,
Rusty

THANKS!

Just a quick update to say that I have both Equinox lower rods, and CTX 3030 lower rods, in stock and available at this time; I also have parts in stock to build custom rods -- including "tall-man" rods, or, in the case of the CTX, "travel" rods, for anyone who wants a custom design.

Thanks!

Steve

Hi, all!

Just an update -- I have one Equinox lower rod, and a few CTX 3030 lower rods, left in stock, with parts arriving Monday to build a bunch more. If you need an extra lower rod for either your CTX or EQX, feel free to drop me a line!

Also, complete carbon-fiber shafts for the EQX will be ready for sale very soon, please look for updates to be posted, in the very near future!

Steve

Update --

Equinox and CTX lower rods are currently in stock! If you need one for either machine, please let me know!

Parts have been ordered for the complete shafts, as well -- so they will be available for sale soon; the current target is roughly mid-January.

Thanks!

Any for the excalibur2

log2lumber --

I don't have an Excal, and so I am not familiar with the Excal's lower rods. I would probably be able to design/build you one, if I had one to study/measure; I would have to alter the design on the EQX "clevis," or "head" -- the part where the coil attaches, but I could do it without too much trouble, and my parts supplier could fabricate the piece once I had a working design. But I really would need to see one of the rods, in person...to take measurements.

I see you are in Detroit; perhaps given that it's winter up there, maybe you aren't getting out with the machine much right now? If you might be willing to part with your lower rod for a few days, and were willing to send it my way, I would be glad to get measurements, and send it back to you...and then work to get one designed/built for you...

If you have any interest in this, send me a PM and we can discuss...

Thanks for your interest!

Steve
