YES, my recycler throws it in with the brass.

My recycler puts in on a wheel to make sure its brass, occasionally its copper, which goes in the #2 Copper bin (more$$). 95% of the time its brass.

on every piece of plated i take a file to see what is underneath. those recycler guys move pretty fast when sorting sometimes. I have pulled pieces out of the brass bin to show the copper spot.

As a former antiques dealer I used to see this quite often. E.P.N.S stands for electro-plated nickle silver. I can't remember the alloy breakdown though.
