Epic hunt on Saturday, you'll want to see this... UPDATED- coins and relics

I've been hunting since about March and I've actually been doing pretty well. I've been pickin up some nice coins here and there, first silver was an 1892 barber quarter, got a merc, and a few indians... But after this last hunt, I'm honestly humbled...
I met a friend of mine at a site I researched on Saturday. It was a decent drive and you never get your hopes up TOO high, but we both knew this site had real potential.

Lets get to the good stuff, these are coin counts between the two of us:

1 Barber Half 1912-S
3 Barber Quarters 1898, 1899, 1900
1 Barber Dime 1906
1 V-Nickel 1887
3 IH Cents (1901, ?, ?)

1 Draped Bust Half Cent (no date)
1 Large Cent 1830
1 2-Cent Piece (1864?)

1 Carlos III Real 1764 (origin Mexico)

Here are some scans of the coins I found before I started cleaning them and some field pics. I dug 3 barber quarters in one hole! 2 were stuck together due to copper leaching(the green stuff) and the other was still in the hole when I rescanned. They have a strange white/ cow pattern patina ??? but are in near mint condition, all 3 have full liberty. Barber half was a real surprise, it was on edge and threw my pinpoint way off. Deepest coin of the day.... 1919s wheat, how does that happen? Oldest coin found ever... draped bust half cent, only 5 inches deep found with some other junk in the same hole. It's toasted but there's enough detail to know what it is, so I'm happy! Also found a 1901 indian with full liberty, and a 1887 V nickel that's seen better days.

Will post some pics after they are cleaned up a little

Enjoy the pics guys, I am also posting some relics in the what is it forum if you want to take a look. We have some interesting buttons, jewelry and other random stuff. :icon_thumright:

Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Updated: Added some pics of the cleaned coins and the more interesting relics found. Indian is still soaking but is on its way to being my nicest yet. Hast some rust on it but the peroxide is doing a great job and not hurting the patina. Half cent, I probably wont clean anymore unless I want to try for a date in the future. The Barber quarters are sooo nice but very discolored, in the future I may try to clean them, right now I don't have the time and dont want to screw them up. V nickel is toast but it's my first. Half dollar came out beautiful with a little lemon juice!

Relics include a whole silver plated spoon, partial pewter spoon and a holed spoon (armours co.). Old earing, small ornate button with shank and backmark, what looks to be a fern leaf made from inlaid black and white glass (broach?), Silver plated moose landscape (maybe an old box lid), solid silver plate with initials, old cufflink with flower patters(cant see pattern in scan), and some kind of buckle.

Re: Epic hunt on Saturday, you'll want to see this...

Best part of the hunt was right after I dug the 3 quarters and my buddy walks over with something and says "i found something that almost beats your barbers" I was thinking maybe a seated quarter or something... nope 1764 Mexican mint reale... :notworthy: I think that smoked my barbers hahaha. Oh man I'll never forget that hunt...

Here's a pic of a 1830 LC he found, anyone know the variety?

Thanks again for all the comments, it makes the research and digging that much more rewarding.

Re: Epic hunt on Saturday, you'll want to see this...

That's amazing. I guess it pays off to do some research first. I'm going hunting tomorrow, can't wait. Hope I get some goodies, but I don't think I'll get anything like what you got there.
