Engraved brass print type

Found today a piece of brass square stock, roughly 7/16 x 7/16 inch that has an eagle and shield (reverse image?) engraved. The piece is machined on base and side with grooves as if it were attached to a device. This looks like a print type piece. Any ideas as to its age?

I would guess 1800-1830 that is nice!
