Appears England has same problem with schools trying to force Islam on kids or be labeled racist.

Parents were ordered to send their children to a workshop on Islam or have them labeled as racist for the rest of their school career.

They were sent a letter warning that the primary school pupils would have a ‘racial discrimination note’ put on their records if they did not go.

Families were told to pay £5 per child for the Explore Islam trip next Wednesday to Staffordshire University, which would involve Year 4 and Year 6 children being shown Islamic artefacts.

TH, I understand where you are coming from. But, not sure that's what is happening in this case. That the school is required to do this shows that it is a state mandate. State being the Country of England. Islamic immigration is a big issue in Europe. In a place where there is a state sanctioned religion having exposure to other religions is probably an attempt at 'Can't we all just get along" An attempt to head off a future problem.

I don't know that i agree with it, but it's not like it's a semester long course or that they are preaching that religion.

The racist thing - that was a bit over the top. The administrator backed away from that in her rewrite. I guess the United States doesn't have a lock on closed minded over zealous school officials.

My advice to the school administrator in this case - dust off your resume.

I should add... I, like other children, was forced to learn about the pilgrims landing...their ideals, the first thanksgiving bad catholics, bad muslims...scarie native americans...so many other religious activities I am at a loss to list them all.

Oh never, EXCEPT for MLK's birthday, Hispanic Heritage Month, being required to take foreign language to graduate from high school and the only one offered is Spanish, no Christmas Break anymore now Mid-Winter Break because of complaints by non-Christian groups, forced teachings in some school districts on Kwansaa, Ramadan. There are probably more, and I'm just talking about Texas schools.Can't speak for Mighigan, Florida, New York or other places with huge latino, african- american or muslim populations...

If you dont like it please do the rest of us a favor and HOME SCHOOL your kids. That way they can grow up to be just like you...
