English long cross hammer coin

I bought this for a few dollars and I have always been interested in English coins but I don't know at all who the bust is depicting. any help?

Welcome to Tnet ! I'm guessing that one of our
veteran British detectorists- Crusader will know. Did you purchase this privately ? Seems like a coin shop would have presented the info on a 2X2 holder .

I purchased it in Ebay with no info just that it was English

If only it could talk ! I'd guess it's gotta be 12th or 13th C. but I know very little about these hammereds - I like to think about what it might have purchased when it circulated ! A pig , a sheep , a jug of ale ? hmmm...

I am pretty sure it depicts King Edward the First but Crusader will likely confirm which King is on the coin.
