Yes, it's a merchant's token. Halfpenny or farthing, depending on the size. The initials look to be 'WM' but it will take some tracking down. Knowing what county you found it in (and which area of the county) might help.

It may be this one -- I'm not 100% but it looks close and you might be able to match it up better in hand.
