Hi to you all !
I am a new member, I found you by searching
I came accross some emeralds . I don't know if they are real or not. Their price was very low, but the man who sold them to me said they are cheap because of their poor quality , but they are natural, mined from earth
I am uploading the images, can you tell me your opinion?
It is very difficult to find a gemologist here 😀

They are enhanced as he told me. It is very common in emeralds(and rubys, sapphires).
But he said they are natural, from earth and not created in a lab.
What troubles me is their low price that's why I have my doubts .
Thanks !!

It is almost impossible to tell from your photos, you need a loop or gemologist microscope and you need to look for flux lines or bubbles.
there are some good books available and they are not expensive, may be a good investment since there are a lot of lab produced gems on the market, many are quite good and can fool even an experienced gemologist.

Here are two books I recommend
Handbook of gem identification, by Richard T. Liddicoat, Jr.

Gem testing, by B.W. Anderson

I'd go with low grade natural emeralds. They don't command a high prce.

And another question.
I do have some other emeralds with IGI certification.
Is IGI trustworthy ?
IGI and GIA seem good from what I checked.
Thanks again for the answers !!!

Maybe.....and maybe not, certificates are only worth the paper they are printed on.
