Good possibility that its emerald mixed in with the stone. The micro fine graining suggests the host quartz was battling it out with the beryl and they kinda mixed up.
Why do we have a mixture of color? I can find rocks with several different colors. Pink and blue together, yellow and pink and blue, etc. Is that what USGS mean when they say melange?
Yep. Mixed minerals. During the formation of the stone multiple minerals can form at the same time. Often they will mix but because room is limited the mixture will be in the form of micro crystals and the result is a mélange of different species in the same stone. Similar species will often try to stay together like your sample but because everything is so compacted no single crystals form and are broken up by other minerals crystalizing at the same time.
