this most of my elks teeth
these were sewed to dresses that had hundreds of teeth on one dress
I think if we googled the mandan indian elks tooth or teeth dresses we could find a picture
if anyone could find a picture please post it or please post your elks teeth here
these are ivory
note that these had to have been passed from generation to generation and used over and over
for example out of the 13 that are posted only 5 do not have the hole worn through
seven have the hole worn out till it fell off or whatever
the oldest one on the upper left has one hole worn through and another hole drilled which wore through also
I am thinking this must have taken a few hundred years or so
what would be your estimate of the time it would take for a hole to wear through, let two holes to wear through
bear in mind that ivory is an awful lot harder than bone
