Hello All,

I am new to the site. I am in the Army and was recently assigned to Fort Knox, KY. I have hunted for Artifacts for many years. Mostly in GA and TX. Is anyone close to Fort Knox that would be willing to show a collector around. I also have a metal detector, but haven't had much luck finding anything with but nails and pop tops with it.

Thank You,

Louis

Louis welcome to t-net and thank you for your service. There are some Kentucky hunters here. Kentucky is rich in some amazing artifacts. If someone from that area does not chime in we can hit google and google earth and bet we can put you on some promising areas. Welcome aboard sir.

Thank You very much. I stumbled upon this site while doing some research on the area. It is a great site and very interesting. I enjoy seeing all the finds that everyone finds. Hopefully, I'll be posting some of my own soon. Thanks again.

Welcome to Tnet and I hope you find some good ones to post for all of us to see.

Thank you all for the hospitality. Dirt, Thank you for the Support. It means a lot in this day and age. I have attached some photos of some of my collection. I have been in Germany for the last three years and haven't been able to hunt. I have been bitten by the bug again. Collection 1.jpgCollection 2.jpgCollection 3.jpgCollection 4.jpg

ok just saw your frames!! Nice. You do not need any beginner advice, lol. Nice artifacts! Hit the Topo maps!

I like those quartz ones. Find them in Ga?

Almost all of the Quartz points were found while I was stationed in GA. I was fortunate to be stationed at Fort Gordon for 10 years of my career. I did pretty good down there. I have walked some creeks here and will start talking to farmers to try to get permission to walk their fields. It is a lot different here.

I live in Ga now and it took me 3 yrs to get a farmer to let me walk his property. But I still have to call before I go so he will know I am there. Its hard to gain trust.

Got it and sent one back to ya. I am going to sleep soon so good night.

That is a hard biting bug isn't it? I was in Danville KY. Not long ago, and met some collectors. My Tom Tom navigation thing sent me into a corn field that I couldn't see across in any direction. Then the thing said "you have reached your destination, Hampton inn". If you find that thing while hunting artifacts, stomp it one more time for me! Some of the finer artifacts that I have seen were from KY. Good luck finding grounds!

It sure is a hard biting bug. Took my wife out Antique shopping today, saw a lot of nice looking fields. It would be nice if some were plowed. Going tomorrow to start looking for permission. I have seen some really nice stuff from KY also. Hopefully, I'll be posting some of my own soon. Did you find anything while you were in Danville?

Louis

Thank you for your service!!! The frames you posted have some awesome pieces in them! Good luck in KY, I'm sure you'll do well once you get your bearings!

I have seen some killer pieces come out of that area.
