Found this odd piece yesterday while detecting an old homesite...this lot had a house on it that was built around 1915..the house is long gone, but found this odd test tube/xmas ornament about 4" down...the top is some type of metal with a bit of wire coming out that seems to be attached the the end of the test tube looking deal...anyone have a guess as to what this is??
All help appreciated!

Is there any residue in the glass, not the dirt, that you can identify? Like the black scorch marks older lightbulbs have when they burn out.

Does that metal part seperate from the glass tube?

I believe the metal will separate from the tube, the wire on the end seems to be holding it in...right now all I can see in the tube is dirt...gonna soak it a bit to get it all out...
