I dug this today in Lebanon Oregon. It about the size of a US half dollar ~ made of copper/bronze ~ and one side read ELECTREX 110 volts 660 watts X 230 THE UNITED DRUG CO. ~ the other side is totally blank.

What is this thing? What did it come off of?! How old is it?

660 watts is to high for fan I think. Must be larger appliance. maybe a heater.

After my first post, I realized that too. I think maybe a vaporizer. That would be about the right wattage for one.

Maybe a waffle maker or toaster. http://books.google.com/books?id=Sz...gMnDBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=1&ct=result

Using Ohm's Law it would be about 5.5 amps. Did I do it right? ohms law.webp

Definitely an old Electrex appliance. The model number was X230, judging by the others I linked below, but I haven't found anything to match it, yet.

X668 was an Iron. http://buy.ebay.co.th/buying/id/display/350138670230_VINTAGE-IRON-ELECTREX

X554 ?? (hard to make out the number) was a Hair Dryer http://cgi.ebay.it/Electrex-Hair-Dr...0923124QQihZ022QQcategoryZ11858QQcmdZViewItem

X775 was a toaster http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-TOASTER...photoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

X351 electric vaporizor http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/Vintage-1936...14&_trkparms=72:1240|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318

Some history:
In 1902, Louis K. Liggett persuaded 40 druggists to invest in a drug company that would manufacture and distribute products in franchised stores. In 1903, United Drug Company (UDC) began operations. The stores and products were known by the name "Rexall," for "king of all." By 1929, UDC had 21 manufacturing plants throughout the United States. It employed over 25,000 workers, supplied 10,000 Rexall Drug Stores, and operated a chain of over 500 Liggett Drug Stores in the United States. In 1944, Liggett stepped down. Justin Dart, the new president, renamed UDC the Rexall Drug Co. and moved the headquarters to Los Angeles.
