Forgot the egg container so I used the feed bucket.
Nice cushion for the days bounty.

pepperj very nice indeed ..farmers often have road side stands over here and sell a dozen eggs for $4 ..

OK, who's the oddball that laid a pink egg?

I think that was Pip's egg. Strange little hen she loves the truck, ATV.
Here she is after a clean up of worms, grubs in the berry patch.
Already to go home.

We get $6.00 for the organic, seems that folks know its a good price.
Some are paying up front for the next month. One customer just got 12 dozen, cleaned us right out.
I am down 2 hens right now. Fox got one, one went broody. She gave us 9 chicks this past week though.:hello2:

I'm jealous of you and Smokey the Cat with your chickens. I want some chickens but the wife won't have it. I used to raise pigeons and love having birds. Happy for you and your new chicks. Gary

A fellow was over the other day and said he got ducks, and was really happy with them. Smarter than a chicken (and he thought so much of his flock).
So I hinted around at keeping a couple of the turkeys back for breeding and eggs. Well that was a lead balloon thought...:laughing7:. (40 beaks are enough!)
Of all the chickens little Pips is the wife's Fav. I guess because it was the smallest, and the only hen out of the original 6.
Her and Bubbles roost together every night as they are up together and are 14 months old.
Here's the rooster Bubbles

I understand the science behind this technique, create a whirlpool so the egg holds its shape, all good, and with one egg I've gotten great results.

But what happens when you need to add a second egg? I really battle to keep the first egg off to the sides while I make a new whirlpool, the first egg just comes into the middle of the pot again.

Any tips on this?

Thanks
