This is another Southwest Missouri find. I found it down on Shoal Creek . It was just lying on the surface at the waters edge. I noticed it right away and was amazed by it. It was like it was calling me to it , it wanted me to find it. Right place right time. Also two points that are almost identical found near it. 20190512_160721.jpg20190512_155736.jpg20190512_155723.jpg20190512_155713.jpg20190512_155727.jpg20190512_160713_HDR.jpg20190512_160736.jpg20190512_160730_HDR.jpg

I'm afraid those are just rocks. Sorry.

BUT... I fully support your right to warship them as effigies.

Welcome to Treasurenet... Sorry they are just rocks......

The first pic may be a large blank or preform the other piece is interesting , there’s a lot of “effigys” posted on here that are nothing even close but this one is a head scratcher almost looks like a really rough start to a bird effigy maybe not finished ?? The head and beak seem worked to me and pic #4 really looks like almost a popped eye .... maybe some close up pics of the head may show more but definitely an interesting piece

Arrow86 may i ask what you are holding in your profile picture. I have an idea but not real sure.

And yes the first point and the duck are definitely same material just not sure what it is. The 2nd point looks to be of a material that is the same but weathered tremendously .

Profile pic is an axe head I found a few years ago ...it was a monster weighs 8 lbs. I meant where the 2 arrowheads you found the same material as these items ? Have any pics of them ?

I thought it was an axe head. The groove is why i thought that. The duck is an orangish red type rock the first pic is a point. It is the exact same material(rock) as the duck. The second point looks whitish / grayish with black. Underneath the whitish layer you can see the orangish type rock underneath. I thought weathered at first but as i look at it it came to me that it looks burnt. Like it was in a fire at some point. I say it looks almost identical meaning shape , design . they both have a fluted side that the pics dont do justice . both are serrated. They were found close together and that makes me believe they were made by the same person being so close in resemblance. This is a drawing of the orange point. This is the flute on one side in the gray area. The white one has the exact same flute on one side. 20190513_013051.jpg20190513_013502.jpga15577347403865232866701050610173.jpg15577349132245180976085633111397.jpg15577349132245180976085633111397.jpg

Normally, effigies are pecked and polished from igneous rock. That rock is flint or chert. No way to peck it. It would have to be ground to shape it. No evidence of grinding I can see so natural. Gary
