effect of gold cache on electronic equiptment

a current project has me stumped . our locating equiptment has taken us to where " x " marks the spot but i am concerned about depth . does gold burried in the ground give false readings to electronic equipt.

Not usually, no. But there are exceptions. Say, for instance, that the gold in question is buried in a thick iron chest. That may give a false reading.

Detectors give clue/s to where the cache is... the readings are just but clues...they are not 100% sure.

old detectors even old electronic detectors are not capable of detecting the depth of any treasure all you need to find is a special detector that will give you the approx depth and to separate the non ferrous precious metal readings from a ferros readings. There alot of new brands are in the market as long as you have the money.

HI: As far as the detector is concerned Gold is gold, whether in the air or in the ground. This is referring to free Gold, not some that has been buried in a container, which, if of metal, would only give you a reading on the container alone.

As for discrimination, forget it. In this type of detecting, you will have to dig up all indications since what you are after, may be enclosed with some type of metallic container. Only the container would be indicated.

Discrimination is said to be a lazy hunter's tool in general, for many reasons.

Before getting technical about METAL DETECTORS, I think we need to know EXACTLY what type of detecting equipment yorkota is talking about (I get the feeling we are talking about an LRL or MFD).

If the gold is enclosed in a sealed non-metallic container, you'll never find it with a md.

Who said metal discrimination is a lazy hunters tool? Discrimination would help you alot and would save a treasure hunters financial money before the BIG DIG, alot of new version gold detectors now a days have this kind of feature it could even tell you if the gold is enclosed to a box of metal chase or of wood by looking a void shown graphically .... Secondly most of the latest metal detectors now a days have a built in metal discriminator and adding more extra money in you're budget there are some high end MD today that could not only discriminate but it could also give you the approx depth of the gold graphically using a laptop attached to it while prospecting a possible project with a plus minus 2 or 3 meters tolerance depending how deep it was buried below the ground and how saturated is the soil.

Actually the topic starter of this thread based from his post wants to separate the so called "legends" from a factual scientific and proven method before he "starts wasting his money digging everything, without having anything in return" Treasure hunting could cost you all you're fortune if your not wise enough to chose the proper equipment you will be needing on site, and most of all wise enough to separate you're self from mythical story to the factual ones.
