Had the day off so decided to try a field that had cows in it. It was a medieval ridge & furrow type & was next too some of my fav fields. I tried for about 1 hour & after digging a couple of modern buckles & a very deep 1861 Penny I decided to try the edges of the fields next door.
Spent 4 hours going around the edges of the fields, swinging my head in between the planted beans without damaging them. It paid off with a couple of OK finds:
Hammered Halfpenny of Edward III (I think, haven't looked it up yet)
Roman coin of Gallenius AD218-268 - Reverse type I need
Pleased with the complete buckle
Neolithic Flint Scraper - 5000BC
bits...
A better 5 hours today, however I have done all the edges so its back to grass tomorrow.
