The sum total of the goodies rescued from school and park lawns this weekend so far. I happened upon the opened Imperial Schrade IMP24 pocket knife as a surface find in the park grass, which I nearly stepped on! It is missing its scales but I can fabricate some new ones for it. No rust or damage otherwise. Blades are in original shape!
I found the usual mix of kiddie bling, a game token, a school DARE medal, a cool "heavy" BMW key fob with a Portland Oregon dealer's name on it, and a RELIC...(rare for me but it happens.) At a 1940's schoolyard, I dug a small aluminum token that I first thought was an old play money coin. When I got it home and cleaned it, I was pleasantly surprised to see it was a store token marked, "The Carter Oil Co./ Camp No. 9/ Commissary" and " Good For 1 C in Merchandise." From what I can glean, the Carter Oil Number 9 Camp is now a ghost town in Oklahoma, having been inhabited and thriving from about 1922-1967. Someone punched a hole in it long ago...
The "PM" Precious Metal find of the day was a crucifix with chain. The crucifix is marked ".925/Sterling/ (R)" and the chain is not marked and probably stainless steel.
Thank you for taking a peek. I wish you all a safe and fun holiday weekend and Happy Hunting! Sub
