Ebay pottery auction, $25K reserve.

When this first showed up on Ebay there were about 75 or more trays of points, blades, shell, and other artifacts along with the pottery. It was stated that it was all personally found, yet in the center of each tray of common points was a huge Grey Ghost that was obviously a reproduction. When somebody called them out on it the auction suddenly disappeared and then came back a little later with just the pottery.

I wouldn't trust it myself without actually picking up and looking at each and every individual pot to make sure they are legit and even then I'd be a little skeptical.

It's on Ebay. That says it all!! If that collection was 100% legitimate that guy would know several people in his area that would want to buy the pieces. With a collection like that he would have met someone through the years that would know how to unload that stuff either on a local level or statewide. I wouldn't trust it.

Not only that, but for $25k someone could post a bunch of pics, and not have the stuff. Next thing you know he/she disappears, and is never heard from again.

yep...

Helluva lot of common Mississippian pottery. If they find a buyer that will give them that for it...I wanna meet them!

Morning,

I'm with you there Matt....most of that stuff is what I would call 'unremarkable'....and many pieces were broken and glued, not to mention restored by filling in the cracks and holes. Pretty pricey for average to below average quality. Yep...on Ebay.....so far as relics go, that says it all.

HH,

Gosh, I think it looks like a nice little collection, not worth that kind of money unless there is some really rare and complete pieces not being showed (yeah right) but a cool collection none the less. By the way, if anybody is looking to aquire some typical mississippian type bowls and what not let me know, I have a surplus as of late- they are all "sack pots" but thus far all but one I have put together have proven to be 95%+ complete.
