This is a great question. I would just tell this person to bid or not bid as this is an auction only. I am not sure if you can revise to add a BIN at $200. HH

You can if there's no bids.

I usually just tell them "thanks, but no. We enjoy the fun of watching an auction, so good luck bidding and hope you win!" I have never had an offer to buy it now that was higher than what the item actually sold for.

When someone asks me that I tell them,

Thank you for the offer but it wouldn't be fair to the other prospective bidders who may want to bid. I would suggest putting a $150 maximum bid on it and you may just end up getting it for less, good luck.

Of course we know the last part isn't true but it sounds good.

I sent a seller a message yesterday asking them to lower the price by a few dollars and that if he did, I would buy it immediately.

He replied that "eventually it will sell at my price". Oh well, at least I tried.

..I have done this ONCE..I felt bad because it had a bid on it...But the seller told me they needed it (Tailight) to go on an upcoming trip. Normally , I would think it was BS, but they paid an extra 50 bucks to ship it next day....But Normally I just let them fight it out

This happened to me once- I had found a rare autographed(1 of 50) Albert Pujols rookie card and decided to but it on Ebay. I started the auction at $100 and within minutes got an email asking if I would do a BIN at $750! After discussing it with my wife I politely declined the offer saying that I too like to watch auctions and bid the fellow good luck. 7 days later and 43 bids it ended for a whopping....... $380!!! I was only a little miffed since I did have fun watching all those bids!

I say that fairly often because it's the truth. I'm actually going to reply with that answer to someone who wrote me earlier today.

As for adding a BIN it's a case by case basis. If I know the value I often will.... if a little unsure likely not. Most things I sell I can put a price on.

Watching is fun but not that fun!

My ebay used to be an absolute blast to watch. All were listings starting low, and every night I had a sale end it was a very busy night with lots of bids and a lot of snipes. But now things have changed for a few reasons, and even though I still do well, it's not quite the same. The reason the changes happened for me was to make more money, and that was always the bottom line anyway.

Damn hind sight is 20/20.. I'm pretty sure I would have accepted the $750 offer without even hesitating (other than to do some real quick research to see if I was missing something & to reconfirm its approximate value). You balked at the offer & paid a hefty cost for that decision, it happens. With me if it was a fair or more than fair price it's SOLD! Watching bidding on your items just tells me you are watching to much & working to little. I use to be the same way tho so it's sure not a crime. I might get lucky & have time to watch a few higher dollar items the last 15 mins of the auction but otherwise I now feel like a watched pot never boils! And I have way too much work, research or listing to do.

I bet your glad you didn't do BIN !

I have done it several times on items that did not have bids on them. And did well.
