Just shipped out a radio on the 14th of april, received on the 20th of april. 10days later the person opens a claim saying i misrepresent the item as it is cracked all the length of bottom. Item was wrapped in padded bublble wrap and double boxed, shipped via parcel post cause he was too cheap to pay priority, and was supposedly damaged during shipping. Didnt leave my house that way. Need some advice. Please help. Want to tell buyer no way it was our fault, and i can prove it wasnt cracked with original pics. Other thing that bothers me is why wait 10 days to file a claim .2 why not contact seller directly. I wish people would wish up. I might be young but i wasnt born last night. Any advice please help.

send original photos and all info to ebat.tell them you are denying claim.send email to buyer and let them know you are disputing claim and that further communication shall be through ebay only.stand your ground...buyer may have history of this action.

thaks bigfoot. Will do that, i just hate to get a negative feedback for something the gorillas at the USPS did.

As a letter carrier for the USPS, any package that has damage that I deliver has a sticker that says "received in damaged condition" on it. If I don't get it that way, (marked by clerks) I put a sticker on it myself. I then tell customer to be sure and hang on to the box with the sticker if there is any internal damage. In 26 yrs. I've had a few damaged boxes but never with anything inside damaged. I think you're being scammed.

Stop talking too the person and do what bigfoot says.. as you know when you are dealing with a wide range of the people/public you are going to come across people like that. This is a good experience for you though if it is your first time dealing with a matter like that! I ship and sell 18th/19th century pottery and can tell you I have had my fair share of scammers .. Good luck.

Did you insure it? If not you're probably screwed, if you did then tell him you're filing a claim with the postal service. Takes forever but at least you will eventually get paid. I had this happen once and worked with the buyer on it. Took 9 months to get the claim paid. Over two years later a box was dropped off in front of my house, it was the damaged item. I repaired it. Haven't relisted it yet though. :)

I agree, I don't believe the USPS did the damage, the fact that the buyer didn't file a dispute until 10 days after receiving the item tells me that the buyer dropped/broke it themselves and now they are trying to get their money back!!!

In the future I would have clause that states the buyer needs to inspect the item upon receiving it for any damage caused during shipping and report said damage within a certain time period, also offer to insure the item at the cost of the buyer, and if they refuse to purchase the insurance, you the seller will not be responsible for any damage during shipping, these terms will need to be agreed upon by the buyer before bidding or no sale!!!

I have agreed to the same terms listed above on most all of the items I have ever purchased on eBay.

I bought some hard to find DVD's off ebay. I had to buy off 3 separate individuals to get the whole set. Every set I received had been poorly mishandled. I no longer buy off ebay. Its not just the postal service, its the sellers. They didnt even have the item on hand as claimed, they were buying the stuff sight unseen and having directly shipped from a warehouse in Texas. Since I used to sell on ebay, I can say I never had a unhappy customer of a dead beat. By the time ebay beat me up with fee's, I it was not worth the effort. If you sell or buy on ebay, you deserve everything you get. Deal with reputable people only please.
