Ebay Auction- Stuff sold to bidder with private feedback

Ebay wants to be like amazon. They'll do away with buyer feedback sooner or later. They used to be a community of buyers and sellers but now it's just another eshop with high traffic from long years of being in the game. Buyer feedback is useless anyways since you can only leave positive. Anyways...private feedback people are aholes. But I'd rather have an ahole than a scammer. They are quick to pay and haven't given me any problems. I say aholes because they almost always ding your DSRs and some of them are quick to neg.

I still haven't got my feedback yet and the buyer loved me! Alot of people won't sell or buy from 0 feedback people though. Your right though I'd rether have a ahole that pays then a scammer. Good luck everyone have a great night.

I picked up on the chance they could be difficult and I need to ship 10 seconds after they pay, with insurance and signature confirmation. I was concerned private feedback means "scammer"

What is there to be nervous about? The feedback being private is no big deal... mine is!

Not at all, especially not with a lot of transactions. So you think he scammed 1,000 people? :) I don't think many think like you because I buy a lot of stuff where I have to ask permission to bid and I almost never get rejected even having private feedback.

Can I ask why you keep feedback private? I am a noob, so please be patient. HH

Because it's a buying name and just prefer what I'm selling to be as well hidden as possible. That said, the way Ebay has the feedback now it doesn't really matter.

I'm guessing when I write the sellers, if they have any questions about me at all, they likely search my recent bidding history.... and when they do that they soon realize I buy enough that I am not fooling around. I actually might change my feedback to public as it really doesn't make a difference now, I just haven't so far because I don't think it really hurts me.

PS: I take a lot more issue with a seller listing private auctions, but at the end of the day that doesn't force you to bid more, so who really cares.

More questions, IP. Why keep buying and selling secret?

Buying because I started back when user names were displayed and you could search what people were bidding on, and what they have bid on. For your competition it wouldn't take long to match up your buying and selling names and if you had something good going on, they could soon figure about where you were getting it, and for how much, and how you were selling it. This has happened to me before so it was in my best interest to try and stay under the radar as much as possible. Remember it only takes one bidder to kill your deal. As for the selling, I'm not hidden in any way, I just look it as my job and never mixed it with my detecting until I started posting on this forum a little.

I never buy from sellers who keep the bidders private. Much harder to tell if there are shills bidding up the price and this practice is fairly common on ebay as in regular auctions. I am leery of people who keep any info private on ebay, what are they hiding from?? As a seller I have never had an anonymous bidder yet, although I haven't sold anywhere near as much as I've bought.

That doesn't really make sense because I can tell you anyone who has a good shill bidding operation going doesn't need the bidder to use private feedback, or even need to to run private auctions. You can't prove anything, or even know for sure, so there's not much point in wasting your time thinking about it. At an auction you bid what you're willing to pay, and either you win or lose, and there's very little point to caring what's going on behind the scenes. I buy a lot off ebay and the most a shill bidder can do is make me pay the price I figured I could still can make money on, so no big deal.

They could have private FB for a variety of reasons.

Often, it is because they don't want others to know what they are buying or selling.

Porn? Sex stuff?

That isn't the case with a relative of mine. He is an avid golfer, and has bought every golf gadget known to man, and doesn't want his friends to know that he bought a book and DVD on how to improve his swing.

I've found that many, if not most, Chinese bidders have private feedback. It would be a huge mistake to exclude them as a group from your auctions.
