Ebay: 1, 3, or 5 Days?

It all depends, I do not like for my auctions to end on Thursday, Friday or Sat. So I adjust to the time frame that avoids those days. I tried the 1 day a couple of times and that was not effective for me. Another good question is time of day to end the Auction?

Just my point of view, but I try and have my coins end on Thurs. nights about 8:30 Eastern time. I live on the east coast, so this seems to work the best for the first two time zones and keeps most shipping a little closer and cheaper. I like Friday and Sat. there after for coins. I have passed this on to CyberDan and believe he agrees with me. I find for vintage collectables the best ending times are the weekend late afternoons to early evenings. I am not an Ebay pro, better info could probably come from Diggummup, but this is my experience. Like I said in an earlier post, I have honestly bought a coins or coins on a Mon. or Tues., maybe even in the morning, gotten it in the mail in a few days, re-listed it or them to end the next Thurs and made money. I can't explain it, but it is the truth. So, my advice isn't to worry about the number of days for your auction, but to schedule your auction to when your target buyers seem to be online shopping.

OH, and P.S. if you do sell coins, the key dates or expensive older ones, with a mint mark that someone might be searching for.............the longer the auction the better, give them time to find it, 7 or 10 days. Also, coins that are worth more in melt than numismatics, like cleaned halves, or holed Peace dollars, list them as 1 day auctions a day when silver spikes. Gets them to the top of the list while the metal is hot. Ok, enough of my opinions for one day. LOL

Are you talking shipping and handling days? I leave it at 5 just in case of emergency. I generally have it out the next day though.

I list all my auctions for a 7 day period. As long as they don't end on Fri. or Sat. night as many people are apt to be out and not home on ebay.

What he said. You want as many people to see your item as possible, so why limit how many days it is listed? I don't get that one at all. 7 days is perfect. 10 days (do they still have that?) is too long and buyers get impatient and just forget about it. As a buyer, I love those short 1, 3, and 5 day auctions. I often buy stuff from these auctions for half of what they get on 7 day listings.

I've found Sun to Wed evening to be the best for me. I have them end between 9 and 10 central time which isn't too late for the east coast and not too early for the west coast.

Listing time span? 7 or 10 days for me, but like the others have said, it is really about when the auction ends.

I always go 3 days. There are so many that watch ebay, that your item will not go sold under the going price. Also, I think people watch it and not let it go sold, because forgetting about the item 6 days later.

This fails on many levels.

I buy a lot on ebay. I have items I will pay $50-$100 for that I end up getting for $10 bids because they run short auctions and nobody sees it. And I see some of these short auctions that I missed and I would have paid 5 to 10 times what the winning bid was.

These days, you need to list it at a decent start price for 7 days or BIN at a higher price and let them make you an offer. Listing it low and letting bidders decide only works if you have items with high demand. Obscure / unique items will often go unnoticed by enough bidders to make you some money.

thats actually a good question, I have always gone 5 with mine and have had the best success with that.
