Are there any tips on sorting pennies to make it easier? And please no get a Ryedale sorter. Can't afford it. Is it pretty much just check every date? No way around it.

If the penny has a shield on the reverse it's not a keeper either. Unless it has a wreath around it and an Indian Head on the obverse. I keep the wheaties seperate fom common copper coins. Get a magnifying glass and latex gloves. I will go through about four boxes this weekend. Filling a penny book makes the hunt more fun. Good Luck.
