I'm not too interested in silver hunting (though its always exciting)....I think the jefferson nickel set might be the easiest? its what I'm working on now, but for variety I'm thinking of picking up a second set to try and complete.

what do you guys think are the easiest sets to complete in CRH?

thanks!

The easiest sets to complete would be the following (assuming only coins intended for circulation). At least IMO.

1. Lincoln memorial pennies (1959-present)
1. Sac dollars (2000-2002)
1. Susan B Anthony dollars (1979-1999)
1. Roosevelt dimes (1965-present)
1. Washington quarters/statehood quarters (1965-present)
1. Presendential dollars (2007-present)
1. Kennedy Half dollars (1971-present)
8. Kennedy Half dollars (1964-1969)
9. Eisenhower dollars (if you can find them, though if you do all varieties there are a couple toughies) (1971-1978)
10. Jefferson Nickels (1938-Present)
11. Roosevelt Dimes (1946-Present)
12. Franklin Half Dollars (1948-1963)
13. Buffalo Nickels (1913-1938)
14. Lincoln Wheat Pennies (1909-1958)
15. Washington Quarters (1932-1964)
16. V-Nickels (1883-1912)
17. Walking Liberty Half Dollars (1916-1947)
18. Mercury Dimes (1916-1945)
19. Indian head pennies (1859-1909)
20. Flying Eagle Pennies (1856-1858)
20. Shield nickels (1866-1883)
20. Any pre-mercury dime set
20. Any pre-washington quarter set
20. Any pre-walking liberty half dollar set
20. Any silver dollar set

Pretty much anything between #13 and #19 is a toss up, I just gave my best guess. And there will be those that argue about the order of 10, 11, and 12 as well most likely.

nice response gman! appreciated!

does anyone have a good site with coin lists? I can find dates/mints...but, I have trouble finding the varietys like large/small dates etc. is there a site that lists what whitman has in its folders?

should try to get very copper cent. 59-82. Just because later downt he road it will be harder to get them in circulation;-)

As far as variations and such... try one of the colored books... red, green, blue, rainbow :P lol They should be of a help.

As far as the main coins... 1c, 5c, 10c, 25c, 50c, I would say that 5c and 50c are the easiest. Albeit I have yet to finish MY 5c, which is 3 coins short from 1938-2008 and I have gone through THOUSANDS worth of nickels, but any set with silver in it is dam near impossible to finish these days. The 50c isn't bad though... by nabbing rolls at banks or through boxes you can hit the 64-69 coins without that much trouble, and the rest of the coins bar the NIFC, 87's, and 70 can easily be found in rolls and in boxes.

To knock out the NIFC, 87's and 70, you can try hand rolls or boxes. NIFC is easier found in boxes, and I am even on my 87 finds between boxes and handrolls.

I'm only missing the 1970 to have the whole set from 1964-2008.

So nickels and halves are my suggestion to you. ;)

They have also both been the most fun for me to search and put sets together of.

I would like to point out that the Sacagawea series of dollars did not stop in 2002. As of 2008, they are still being minted.

yes, but not issued for circulation as far as I know.. much like kennedy halves have been minted after 2001.

I believe the NIFC sacs are MUCH harder to find than the NIFC Ken's though... at least from what I have read of people trying to get them.

So I stand by my .05c and .50c recommendations.

I wouldn't know personally... only searched sacs/SBAs once.. and found a couple NIFC sacs mixed in out of about $500 worth
not many on the board search the small dollars...
