Early Police badge!!

Well I got out for a little while this morning. Ended up finding a 1936 silver quarter, Canadian large cent and a police badge. It's about 2" wide and about 1 1/4" high. I don't know much about it. I'm thinking it was a hat pin or badge. Any hell would be appreciated!!
