Same general design for sure, but man, that's a funny looking head on that eagle :icon_scratch:

Scroll down to the 8th button set on the link above, yours is the 15 star version, likely making it that much more rare.
Though I agree that the eagle on your button almost looks sickly.
If I were you I'd send pics to an expert.

What a great site Mud Hut thank you, it is strange though I have yet to see one that matches my button exactly as the eagle seems different then all the others I have seen. The rope around the anchor also seems to be interesting as well. Hoping the right button expert shows up to lend a hand! Thanks guys

After having a few drinks.

Very interesting, I can't tell if it's a trick of the eye from environmental damage or if its head was really designed that way.

It really appears to me like the eagles mouth is meant to be open like that. It does not appear like there is much environmental damage on the button :icon_scratch:

email has been sent out! Hoping for some info on it. Im thinking its possible it may just be the 15 Star variety of the button in the link. I have no seen another one to compare to that 15 star one if someone can find one that would be awesome!

Hopefully you will hear back soon, but there is a chance that William is attending a DIV hunt, so you may not hear anything until the hunt is over.

I've sent out two emails with no responses yet. Hoping to hear something soon. I've been searching and have not found a match

Like I said earlier, there is a good chance that William Leigh is attending a DIV hunt, so you may not hear anything until the hunt is over. I think it all ends on April 1st, so probably won't get a reply from him until after that date.

I hope it is a rare Naval Button for sure! I can't stop think that the head looks more like a Turkey Gobbler's head. Could it be an extremely early version when the United States was considering the Eastern North American Wild Turkey Gobbler as our' National Bird?:icon_scratch::dontknow:
