Another good find from an 1815 homestead. Stuff keeps popping out of the ground here so I have been hitting it pretty hard lately. This is my first Seated coin. Interestingly enough, I found a 1832 Capped Bust half dime too. No quarters, no dimes, just half-dimes. This one doesn't seem to be in good shape though,. Is there anyway to clean the tarnish off it?

That's a wonderful find!

I have used baking soda and a little water to make a paste and polish up a coin that was heavily tarnished, but I wasn't happy with how "non-dug" it looked. If it were mine, I would leave it as-is. It is really a nice coin except for the light corrosion.

Congratulations,

Buckles

I agree with Buckles..... it is a sweet find just as it is.
Congrats and hope the site continues to produce for you.
Gold Nuggets :hello:

That is a nice looking half dime. Just the way it is....Matt

Nice going.. Not to many of those in this area. Need to go up north for the old stuff!!

It has a pale, ghostly beauty to it. I agree, keep it the way it is. Or mail it to me. Your choice.

Way to go Brett!!!
That is one cool find, can't wait till I find one.

Another one bites the dust.

What is next on your list?

See ya on the box.

I agree with BB. Leave it. I just cleaned a common date Barber with the above method, but I wouldn't touch a Half Dime!

Nice find!!

If you don't like it I will gladly trade you a nice new shiny nickel for it? :dontknow:

I cleaned a seated dime with the baking soda. It works but it also makes the coin look polished. Mine was far worse than yours so I would leave it as is and show it off!\

That coin is high on my wish list to find though.
