Ok, now that the other two mystery items have been successfully identified I don't think this one should be too problematic. Any ideas?

The design is still the same? I really thought this one was older. Five or six inches deep in a front yard.

The design was introduced sometime in the 1840's and continued (with variations) until May 14, 1941, at which time the pattern was standardized with the eagle "facing right" (i.e., beak pointing to your left as you look at the button). There are also many civilian buttons which imitate the eagle/anchor design. If your button has a backmark, a sharp closeup photo might help narrow the date range.

Thanks PBK. I think I'm outa luck on the backmark. Piece is covered in rust. Unless anyone has suggestions about getting through the rust to be able to view the backmark...
