It's probably an owner's monogram..."A" almost looks Masonic.

Hello Dave, I think what you have is the handle from a piece of Colonial pewter flatware. During that time, pewter had hallmarks, verification marks, touch-marks, and ownership marks (family monogram.) Judging by the size and font of the initials, I would agree with Romeo in that it is probably an ownership mark. Nice find, Breezie

Yep pewter & a form (dog nose/wavy end) that was used in the 1690's - up to about 1740. :wink: I'll dump my load of sites on you so you can have a blast reading. :laughing7:

I've got quite a few of the dog nose type ends but yet to find a whole one of them. :(
