Found this 27.5mm x .049" thick copper along the Ohio River. Hoping it's some type of early American copper, if so it's my first. It was deep and heavily corroded. Tried cleaning with heated peroxide unsuccessfully so I used Limeway several times and could finally make out a portrait looking right and possibly the number 7 & 9 below the portrait. The reverse has the even lines and possibly the letter 'E' near the edge to the left of bars which would be in the correct location for a Georgivs Triumpho token. The only other coin I've found with even lines on the reverse and large portrait looking right is a 1792 Roman head Washington cent. Chances that it's one of them is slim to none but knowing it's some type of early copper would be nice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, any thoughts about giving Limeway another try to bring out more detail.

The bust does look to be an Irish type King George III 1770s/80s, and being so an Irish Halfpenny makes the most sense, (likely counterfeit in this case) but I would not rule out Triumpho just yet. There will be something on the coin to separate them, just a matter of taking a close look.

The harp is actually quite clear once the picture is the correct way. (and there's a good picture to compare beside it)

There is no stop . after Georgivs on the Triumpho-

but I think I see one here-

My guess is 1766 Hibernia because I'm feeling all daring and crazy to throw it out there

...and I thought I could see a "6" when I played around with the enhancement on the back pic. ;D

Dare as you may but the coin in question does *not* have the young head Irish George III bust. (1766 & 1769) ;D

Yes, would be possible, and the only date if the last digit is a 6.

Old program.... Paintshop Pro 7. Has an option to rotate the image. I recognized the top of the crown right away as probably being that, or the bottom of the harp, and just had to rotate it a bit to see which.

I have used that site many times and for many years.

This one is even better.
