It looks like a Roman Bronze Minum....is it quite thick.

Don - I think there is a strong Greco-Roman influence in the design which would tend to point to Middle Asia origin. Hard to say for sure but I think we're in the right area.

For what it's worth, I'm with deepsecrets & Don. It looks to be a Kushan tetradrachm. Exact identification of some of these coins is debated among experts (which I am NOT).

I'll wager that many of these coins were difficult to recognize even when they were still in circulation. Cool coin anyway and VERY interesting where it was found.
