The city recently re-discovered one of their city parks. The "Confederate Mothers Memorial Park" was built in 1924 according to my research, so I had high hopes of finding some good coins when I hit it this weekend. Unfortunatley. seems that in the off years of not being a place to take your kids for a picnic it became a haven for those with less than savory habits. This place is festooned with broken bottles and used prophalactics. I picked up as much glass as my pouch would hold each time I went but left the rubbers for some poor sap with community service hours to work off. Anyway on to the finds.
Nothing too fancy but among the clads and bottlecaps and timing gear(?go figure?), I found my first wheats so I know there has to be some silver there too. The wheats (56, 58, unknown) were all situated along a little trail running off to the side of the park through the woods to a neat little bluff with a firepit. Had my self a great big smile when I checked tha back of the first one. The second, with the bullet hole, I thought was a back to a blue jeans rivet or something untill I cleaned it and saw the wheat ears on the back. I'll definatley have to hit this place again.
Also is a pic of a tag/token i found at the soccer field. It says: Upper Elementary 5th grade Super Reader
