I finally got a chance to get out and do a little detecting. It was about 60° here today and I decided to swing the new NEL Storm coil my dad got for me. I think it will take some getting used to as it seemed a little sensitive when clipping the soy bean stubble...

I first got a small copper grommet and then another similar signal... This time it was this really neat small button. . It is almost like tombac material, but it appears to be a one piece cast button. It you look at the backing, you can see the hand filing of the extra material. Can anyone tell me how old this button could be? I have not found anything quite like it before.

I also found a bunch of old lead too! These sure are white!! These relics were all found at the house where I found my 1796 capped liberty cent.
Oh, the mercury dime is just there for size comparison...
Thanks for checking out some of my first find of 2016!

No kidding... Ahh... That gives me a great feeling! My son was with me, he is 9, and i told him i thought it just might be that old. I read your reply post, and his eyes got as big as that William and Mary that Vino found today! And best of all, he told me good job! Awesome....
