✅ SOLVED Early Bra snap?

Dug this item yesterday in an early 1800s house site. No evidence of any break, plain with just a bit of silver wash left on one side. I'm guessing some sort of strap end for possibly ladies garments?

Looks like a form of garter snap clip to me. Works much the same as a suspender buckle. Yours looks a bit older than the ones I find though

Yep, early garter belt.
