Early 1800's flat button with "standard" on it. Please help identify the maker.
Found a flat button today that looks to be from the early 1800's. Pretty rough shape with no shank and nothing on the front, but still a neat find. Tried to take a photo of the back, but it didn't show any detail. It's about the size and thickness of a penny.
Anyway, I'm trying to figure out the maker. The bottom of the stamping has "standard" in small block lettering. The rest of it is tough to read, but it's larger lettering and almost looks like calligraphy. Old English script, I guess you would call it.
I know it's long shot, but does anyone have any idea as to the maker and when it was manufactured?
