i was old it dated back to the civil war a friend saw one he said in a relic book just like it

How did you date it? Where did you find it? Is it magnetic? I have found modern things in civil war camps IE my post awhile back on what turned out to be a .38 special round. I think River Rat nailed it

im sure he did just wish there was a way to tell how old it is, found it with metal detector with in about 10 foot from virginia plate and other civil war things. like buttons and a gem george thoms reunion medal. found it when my dad farm at pecan point ar just across the river from fort pillow

I'm not an expert, but the tip of guidon and as far as I know, the National Colors, has been the same dating back to the Civil War. it's a spear tip, not an eagle.
