Anyone have any ideas what this could be or where it could have came from? Not sure what material it is made from. At first we thought it said "Vote" on the shield but after cleaning it appears to be "TUTE".

Pictured with spoon in second pic for size reference.

The wing was already missing, and not in hole :(

What does the back look like? It looks like yours might have been a hatpiece. I've never seen one exactly like that but most fraternal organizations had their own uniforms.

All flat on the back. I emailed a photo to redmen.org to see if they had any info or idea of what it might have came from.

Oh, the little flat piece....thought it was scrap until I saw the letters and decided to hold onto it. I assume the lower part is Reinerton, the town we were detecting in. Not sure who Ray Br? is but it must have been some sort of name plate? to something

I Wonder if it's Ray Brown

Being Les lived just up the road,
Could be a Relative of Les Brown,
I Don't know what his Relatives names were.

May be from a Trap

a Quick Check of Les Brown's Bio :

Full Name
Lester Raymond Brown

So it is Possable for there to be a Ray Brown
in the Family.

More Info

Raymond Brown, Les's Father

To be fair to Les's father, Reinerton's baker was thrilled that his son preferred the cornet and saxophone to corn muffins and soufflés. Raymond Brown was a musician at heart, an accomplished saxophonist with great hopes that his three sons would not only grow to love music the way he did, but also become professional musicians. On that score, he didn't have much to worry about with Les.

Could have been on a Box Delivered to the Hotel
From their Bakery.

Don't Throw it away !

Here is the reply I received from the Redmen.

Mike,

Thank you for your recent e-mail inquiry.

What you have is part of abadge of some typefrom the Improved Order of Red Men.

There were hundreds of designs using the eagle and shield.

Can you tell if there was a pin assembly on the reverse?

Reinerton had Brushwood Tribe No. 394, instituted in 1900.

TOTE stands for Totem of the Eagle, a once-secret phrase.

At one time Pennsylvania had 80,000 IORM members.
