Eagle Buttons?

Found these today near a National Battlefield, was hunting in the middle of a farm field
and they were in a 20'x20' area. They have Horstmann Philadelphia on the back. Civil War
or?? If they are Post CW, it was a weird place to find them!!!

With that backmark - HORSTMANN / PHILADELPHIA they were made from 1893 to 1935.

Your buttons, which are spectacular, are not CW era... sorry.

But they are awesome! I wonder if they were from reenactments or parades in the historical area "post war".

Don't know. Maybe the farmer was a veteran and used the coat out in the fields and lost it.

Nice buttons! Looks like the general service variety listed by Albert as #GI 98. c. 1875-1902.
