I found this at wooded home foundation where the newest items I've found are from 1890's. The site dates to probably 1830-1850. The Button says " Waterbury Button Co." and is smaller in diameter than a dime. It was 5" deep, which is deep for this site. Is this Civil War associated?

I think that is a civil war button.

Congrats on a great find.

I'd love to think it is civil war but I'm in Michigan. I looked it up and it seems like it could be a Union button but it's not quite exact.

Alas, i also have found this same button at a late 1800's house that is still intact. But i live in Missouri. I never assumed it to be of any real value or particularly old enough to be of any war. IF anyone has any real info on this i would love to hear more. Thanks for the post. Wish i could post mine, but my camera cord got eaten by my new pup, got one on order though :o

Union general issue cuff button, I'd say. Probably dates to the War for Southern Independence, or immediately thereafter. Regards, HCR

Best I can tell, the back says "WATERBURY BUTTON CO."
