I spent yesterday afternoon in the Confederate camp. The last two hunts, including one full and one half day, had produced just one bullet.

After an hour or so with only a couple of shotgun shells in my pouch, I got a great signal tucked under a root and surrounded by broken bottles. I assumed it was a jar lid and actually got sidetracked digging a couple of bottles before getting back to the signal. When I got it in my hand, the weight of it got my attention and after a quick brushing off an eagle appeared. The breastplate is in great condition with both hooks and a "W. H. Smith Brooklyn" mark on the back.

I'm still in shock.

That's so cool, I'd be very excited with that find. It looks like it is in very good shape also (but I would not know, never seen one before) Congrats!

From jar lid to Breastplate - just like the Pumpkin turning into Cinderalla's Coach! Congratulations on a killer find! :icon_thumleft:

Great find, and in such good condition! I'll take a "jar lid" like that any day!

Congratulations on the breast plate. And it's really nice and undamaged too.

Unfortunately, for me, all my breast plates actually are jar lids!

Best of luck to you sir.

Very nice find! I saw one of those this weekend that the property owners land we were hunting had, but yours is in better shape.

Really nice shape and almost unheard of to dig them with the iron attachments still intact these days. All I've dug just rust spots on the back where they used to be.

That is a BANNER Find! :notworthy:

That's a truly fantastic find! Congratulations

Great find!!! Very high on my list. I want one bad! Congratulations

Nice Breastplate. They don't come out of the ground much better than that.
