Gained permission at major historic homestead that is on the national register and was home to a few massive civil war campsites. The house held generals during the battle and was also a hospital during and after the war. I don’t want to give too much away, but I’m so excited and blessed to have gained exclusive permission here. This was the first signal of the day! They are still out there. Don’t give up!

Congrats! Is that your first plate?

Congratulations, Awesome Save!!

Congratulations on a historic find, Harrison! Thank you for sharing with us!

Congrats on the plate, and the permission. One must keep the cards close to their chest.

Beautiful keep going

Great find! Leave out more details of where you went and let's see what else you got! And yes, they are still out there, untold thousands in most likelyhood.

And untold thousands will stay out there, buried under urban sprawl:BangHead:

A couple of years ago I posted about the opportunity to detect at Ulysses Grant's summer "cottage' site in Long Branch NJ. I wish some of you guys and gals were with me, especially someone like you Harrison. I didn't find much, it's right on the beach, very undulated land. At some point I'll post about what I found. Nothing spectacular but could have been in Grant's hands or on his property.
I got the permission from a contractor who was overseeing the development of Grant's former property. 4 new homes going up. Really disappointing but that's NJ.

Grant's cottage was torn down in 1963.

This is how it looked when I got there. I'm afraid to see it now.
Sorry to hijack your post Harrison, but this was the first thing I thought of. Guys with eagle breast plates were all over the place at parties here in Long Branch NJ.
